The more 2021 rolls on, the more games are going to launch that are specifically built for the Xbox Series X/S and the PS5. There is plenty of competition for attention out there these days. Until then, players that want to explore a world that isn't really depicted to the same level of detail as this series manages are in good hands. Bethesda Game Studios, the creators of Skyrim and Fallout 4, welcome you to Fallout 76, the online prequel where every surviving human is a real person. Fallout 5 is likely several years off, assuming it's coming at all. The big question for fans of the Fallout series is whether or not this game can scratch an itch until the next big game is finally here. That's the kind of adjustment that can lure someone in who might have stepped away because they didn't like certain gameplay aspects of Fallout 76. It launched to such a negative performance that the game reportedly led to Bethesda delaying Doom Eternal.

The team has promised a future patch is going to bring big inventory changes to the game. It's somewhat surprising to remember that Fallout 76 was first released back in 2018. At the moment, it appears the game has gotten by with little tweaks here and there. That may not mean players are going to see a content or story update, nor is it a requirement for there to be one. Perhaps wanting to make sure people understand that Steel Dawn is not the end of the line, Bethesda has been clear in saying there are plenty of updates planned for Fallout 76 in 2021.
